Fraudsters have learned to rob Russians in a new way. This was announced by the director of the information security department of Rosbank Mikhail Ivanov in an interview with RIA Novosti.
It is noted that cybercriminals encourage bank customers to withdraw money from a branch or ATM on their own and transfer funds to their account. According to Ivanov, for this the scammers provide the Russians with fake documents from the bank.
When issuing funds through the cashier’s office, the attackers offer the client to transfer the amount through third-party credit and financial organizations. Thus, they take the victim out of the bank’s control perimeter.
Earlier, Zecurion CEO Alexei Raevsky revealed a way to reduce the number of calls from fraudsters. According to him, there is no way to protect yourself from getting a phone number into the scammers’ database. Leaks come from banks. He advised getting two phones or two SIM cards – for banks and for everything else. At the same time, Raevsky warned that this would not be a full-fledged solution to the problem of fraudsters’ calls to one of the numbers.
