Xi Jinping urges marines to prepare for war
BEIJING, October 15. / TASS /. Chinese President Xi Jinping, during a visit to a military base in the southern Chinese province of Guangdong, called on the military to prepare for war and demonstrate absolute loyalty and reliability. As reported by Xinhua, he said this during his address to the Marine Corps of the People’s Liberation Army of China (PLA).
“It is necessary to concentrate all thoughts and forces on preparing for war, ensuring a state of heightened combat readiness,” the agency quoted him as saying.
As Xi Jinping pointed out, “the Marine Corps is an elite unit that bears on its shoulders an extremely important task of protecting state sovereignty, security, territorial integrity, and the country’s interests.” He also called for increased efforts to advance the transformation of the corps and increase its combat effectiveness in order to create a powerful army. According to him, the training of the Marine Corps must correspond to the development and security strategy of the country.
In his address, the head of the PRC also pointed out that the military “must be disciplined, guarantee absolute loyalty, disinterestedness and reliability.”
Chinese President Xi Jinping arrived in Guangdong province to attend the celebrations marking the 40th anniversary of the establishment of the country’s first special economic zone in Shenzhen.
