In Yelets, children desecrated a monument to those who died during the Great Patriotic War
TASS, October 17. Investigators are conducting a pre-investigation check in connection with the desecration by children from 7 to 17 years old of the monument to those who died during the Great Patriotic War in Yelets, Lipetsk region. This was reported on Saturday by the Investigation Department of the RF IC for the region.
The reason for the check was the video recording of the monitoring of the Safe City cameras, thanks to which the desecration of the Eternal Flame memorial on Kommunarov Street in Yelets was established. The footage shows how five children dance around the monument, burn wreaths, throw cigarette butts into the fire and relieve themselves. All the participants in the vandalism have been identified – the oldest of them is 17 years old, the rest are from 7 to 9 years old.
“The investigation department for the city of Yelets of the Investigative Directorate of the Investigative Committee of Russia in the Lipetsk region has organized a pre-investigation check into the desecration of the memorial dedicated to those who died during the Great Patriotic War for the liberation of the city of military glory. Based on the results of the check, a procedural decision will be made,” the statement says.
According to the Investigative Committee, for vandalism committed by a group of persons, punishment is up to three years in prison (part 2 of article 214 of the Criminal Code of the Russian Federation).
