Exit polls: Vitaliy Klitschko and Alexander Popov entered the second round of Kiev mayoral elections
Kyiv Mayor Vitali Klitschko and Opposition Platform – For Life candidate Oleksandr Popov are entering the second round of the city head elections, according to the exit polls of the Ukraine 24 TV channel and the Rating sociological group. According to them, Mr. Klitschko is gaining more than 40%.
According to Ukraine 24, the incumbent mayor has 45.93% of the vote, and the Opposition Platform candidate has 9.62%. Servant of the People representative Irina Vereshchuk received 8.53%. The rating has similar data. Its representatives believe that Mr. Klitschko will gain 47.8%, Mr. Popov – 8.6%. According to the “Rating”, Mrs. Vereshchuk will take fourth place (8%), behind Sergei Pritulov from the Golos party.
Vitali Klitschko in 2014 won the early elections of the mayor of Kiev in the first round with 56.7% of the vote, and in the next elections in 2015 – with 66.5%. Since 2010, Mr. Popov has worked as the first deputy head of the Kiev City State Administration. He was fired in January 2014.
The mayor of Odessa Gennady Trukhanov, according to exit polls, also failed to win in the first round. His opponent on the Opposition Platform, Nikolai Skorik, may advance to the second round.
