Lukashenka expressed condolences to the relatives of the protester killed in Minsk
President of Belarus Alexander Lukashenko instructed to take control of the circumstances of the death of Roman Bondorenko, who was beaten in Minsk. Lukashenko also expressed condolences to the parents of the deceased. Lukashenka said this in an interview with the media of Belarus and neighboring countries, the broadcast of which was published on BelTA.
“This morning, since everyone started accusing the police once again, I called the Prosecutor General and said: take this criminal case or investigation under serious control,” Lukashenka said.
Bondarenko died on November 12 in a hospital after he was beaten in the courtyard of his house by unknown persons in civilian clothes and masks, who had come to remove the red and white ribbons. According to the doctors, the 31-year-old Belarusian was diagnosed with cerebral edema, closed craniocerebral injury, bruises, abrasions and hematomas.
The Investigative Committee of Belarus opened a criminal case. According to the investigation, a fight took place between local residents, some of whom were hanging ribbons, while others were taking them off.
In connection with the death of Roman Bondarenko, the European Union threatened Belarus with the introduction of new sanctions. An action in memory of the deceased was held in Minsk yesterday. Participants brought flowers and candles, a minute of silence passed.
