Lukashenka refused to transfer power to his successor
President of Belarus Alexander Lukashenko refused to transfer power to his successor and the transit procedure. His statement in an interview with Belarusian and foreign journalists is published by “Interfax – West”.
“No transit of power! No successors. Whom the people choose, so it will be. I swore. I promised that it would be as the Belarusian people decide, ”Lukashenka assured.
Earlier, he said that the plan for constitutional changes would be discussed at the upcoming All-Belarusian People’s Assembly in early 2021.
Mass rallies against the official results of the presidential elections, according to which Lukashenka won 80 percent of the vote, have been going on for three months in Belarus. The demonstrators demand his resignation and a new vote.
The head of state himself has repeatedly argued that the West is behind what is happening. According to Lukashenko, external forces want to “remove a competitor” in the person of Belarus.
