A “wooden” lump was found in the stomach of a child who had eaten persimmon
A 5-year-old resident of the Chinese province of Fujian was hospitalized with severe stomach pain after eating persimmons. Writes about this Global Times.
In a hospital, a child who ate four fruits in a row underwent an ultrasound scan. It turned out that a hard lump had formed in his stomach, seven centimeters long and three centimeters wide, weighing 250 grams. Experts explained that it was formed due to the sweet fruits – the acids contained in persimmon have reacted with proteins and fiber. As a result of the process, the eaten persimmon turned into a ball as hard as a tree.
A nine-hour operation was required to relieve the boy from pain. During the course of medical intervention, doctors shattered the ball into small fragments and pulled them out.
Earlier it was reported that in New Moscow, a four-year-old boy ate a lollipop in a supermarket, choked and died. Before that, he walked around the store and grabbed goods, stuffing some of them in his mouth. The adults paid no attention to his actions.
