Former adviser to the head of the Federal Agency for Fishery Yuri Khokhlov, accused of attempted fraud, has been extradited from Cyprus to Russia, the Russian Prosecutor General’s Office said. The ex-adviser, according to Mr. Ivanov, according to the department, was delivered to Moscow, accompanied by officers of the Federal Penitentiary Service and the Russian Bureau of Interpol.
“At the request of the Prosecutor General’s Office of the Russian Federation, the competent authorities of Cyprus extradited to Russia the former adviser to the head of the Federal Agency for Fisheries Yuri Khokhlov,” – stated in the message on the website of the Prosecutor General’s Office.
Yuri Khokhlov is accused of trying to sell the deputy head of the Federal Agency for Fishery for $ 7 million. In 2016, US citizen George Hager and three Russians, with the exception of Yuri Khokhlov, were detained in the case. In 2018, the detainees were sentenced to prison terms ranging from three to four years. Yuri Khokhlov was arrested in absentia, in 2018 he was detained in Cyprus.
