Moldovan farmers come to the government on tractors
In Moldova, 150 farmers traveled on tractors to the government building in the center of Chisinau, staging a protest against the tax reform. This was announced on Thursday, December 10, according to Euronews.
Agrarians are outraged by the increase in the VAT rate on agricultural products and the scanty compensation for losses due to drought. Having parked their tractors outside the government building, they demanded the cancellation of the reform and adequate government assistance.
According to one of the protesters, Moldovan farmers are “strangled by banks, suppliers of seeds, fertilizers, diesel fuel,” and the state is ignoring.
Some of the farmers set up camp in the vicinity of the Moldovan capital a few days ago. They claimed that they were ready to “go to Chisinau”.
On November 15, the second round of the presidential elections took place in Moldova. Former Prime Minister Maia Sandu received 57.75 percent of the vote, while incumbent President Igor Dodon received 42.25 percent.
