In St. Petersburg closed the “Map of resistance” restaurants
The Internet resource “Resistance Map”, created by businessman Alexander Konovalov, changed its name to “Unification Map” and closed the geotags of catering establishments that refuse to comply with the decree of the St. Petersburg government No. 121. The latest changes made it stated that catering will not work on the most profitable days from December 30 to January 3, and in the period from December 25 to December 29 and January 4 to 10, it will close at 19:00. Now all establishments are forced to close at 23 o’clock.
The website states that a series of meetings with business representatives and the ongoing dialogue were able to get things moving with the adjustment of restrictions off the ground. “It seems to us that we managed to get through and the authorities finally heard us … We are sure that the preservation of the health of citizens and the survival of business are not mutually exclusive,” it says.
Yesterday, December 9, Governor Alexander Beglov met with restaurateur Aram Mnatsakanov, who assured him that “the business will hold out.” “Of course, we will suffer losses, but nothing will happen to us until January 10,” he said at the end of the meeting. Also, on the initiative of the prosecutor’s office, a dialogue took place between a number of business representatives, the Commissioner for the Rights of Entrepreneurs and Vice Governor Yevgeny Yelin. At the end of the conversation, the city prosecutor Sergei Litvinenko suggested the restaurateurs contact him. “We will take questions directly with the governor, but we do not need to form an opinion that we do not find a common language,” he said.
Anti-epidemic measures were tightened in St. Petersburg on December 4. Smolny banned cafes, bars and restaurants to receive visitors from 25 to 29 December and from 4 to 10 January from 7 pm to 6 am. In the period from December 30 to January 3, they are completely prohibited from working. Such actions of the authorities became a reason for business dissatisfaction.
More than 100 establishments were placed on the “Map of Resistance” that do not recognize prohibitions. They stated that they intend to continue their work after 23:00 and during the New Year holidays. Police raided open bars and opened two criminal cases for violations.
More details about the dispute between the business and the city administration can be found in the publication of Kommersant FM “The authorities of St. Petersburg are selecting tactics.”
