Aliyev calls Yerevan historical land of Azerbaijan
Zangezur, Goychin and Irevan regions of Armenia are “historical lands of Azerbaijan”. This was stated by the President of the country Ilham Aliyev during the victory parade in Baku, reports the portal Liga.net.
We are talking about the territories of modern Armenia, including Yerevan, Sevan and Syunik region.
According to Aliyev, “the aggressive policy of Armenia” began in the late 1980s, and “because of it, hundreds of thousands of Azerbaijanis who lived in the territory of the present Republic of Armenia were expelled from the lands of their great-grandfathers.”
Earlier on December 10, a military parade was held in Baku in honor of the victory in the armed conflict in Nagorno-Karabakh. Turkish leader Recep Tayyip Erdogan specially arrived at the event. At the same time, Turkey sent 2,783 of its military personnel to the parade. The number was not chosen by chance: these are the official military losses of Azerbaijan.
On December 9, Armenian Foreign Minister Ara Ayvazyan accused Azerbaijan of ethnic cleansing and war crimes against the Armenian residents of Nagorno-Karabakh.
The transfer of territories under the control of Azerbaijan in Nagorno-Karabakh, enshrined in a trilateral agreement adopted with the mediation of Russia, ended on December 1. The Lachin corridor, the only road linking now Armenia and the unrecognized Nagorno-Karabakh Republic, will be controlled by Russian peacekeepers. Turkey also participates in the conflict settlement process within the framework of a joint ceasefire control center with Russia, but representatives of the Turkish side are not included in the peacekeeping mission.
