The head of the Gamaleya Center, Alexander Gintsburg, has revealed the validity period of the Russian Sputnik V coronavirus vaccine. He told about this on the air of the show “Nightingale LIVE” on YouTube.
According to him, the drug is expected to protect against the virus for about two years. At the same time, the scientist noted that the Pfizer vaccine lasts only 4-5 months. The head of the Gamaleya Center also added that these data have yet to be experimentally verified.
Earlier, Gunzburg said that more than 150 thousand residents of Russia have already received the Sputnik V coronavirus vaccine. He stressed that this is the largest number of people vaccinated with the drug against COVID-19 than in any other country in the world using a similar drug.
There are currently several COVID-19 vaccines in the world. Thus, two vaccines are registered in Russia: Sputnik V and EpiVacCorona. On December 5 in Moscow, vaccination against coronavirus with the drug “Sputnik V” started. Pfizer / BioNTech has registered a COVID-19 vaccine in the United States, and another Moderna vaccine is on the way.
