Vice Prime Minister Victoria Abramchenko approved the Extended Producer Responsibility (EPR) concept. The Deputy Prime Minister held a final meeting on this issue on December 21. As a result, it was decided to abolish the standards for the disposal of packaging while retaining responsibility for the manufacturers of goods.

“Entrepreneurs will be able to realize responsibility on their own – by concluding a contract with a utilizer or through utilization at their facilities. Otherwise, you need to pay an environmental fee, ”the government’s website said in a statement. Payment for the disposal of packaging should not be included in the tariff for the population.

Since the beginning of the practical implementation of the EPR concept – from 2022 – it is necessary to achieve a complete balance between the packaging released into circulation and its disposal, the message says. “Among the decisions taken is strengthening control over the actual disposal, which will be implemented thanks to the state information system,” – Viktoria Abramchenko commented on this task.
