The White House considers a leak from the laboratory to be the likely cause of the COVID-19 pandemic
Matthew Pottinger, Deputy National Security Advisor to US President Donald Trump, called the most likely version, according to which the cause of the pandemic was the leak of the SARS-CoV-2 coronavirus from a laboratory in China.
“There is growing evidence that the laboratory is the most likely source of the virus,” Mr. Pottinger quoted the Daily Mail as saying. According to him, as a result of the emergency, the virus could get outside the secret Wuhan Institute of Virology, located 11 miles from the Wuhan market.
“Even the establishment in Beijing openly rejected the market story,” he added. According to the newspaper, Matthew Pottinger made this statement during a Zoom conference, which was associated with the preparation of a group of experts from the World Health Organization for a flight to Wuhan to find out the causes of the coronavirus pandemic.
We will remind, in May, US President Donald Trump said that he was sure that the source of the SARS-CoV-2 virus was a laboratory in the Chinese city of Wuhan. He said he saw evidence of the laboratory origin of the coronavirus. Secretary of State Mike Pompeo immediately clarified that the United States does not know exactly where it started. After that, the American president repeatedly turned to the US intelligence services with a request to find out whether the virus was artificially created in one of the Chinese laboratories.
