Lukashenko spoke about the attitude towards Putin and Zelensky
President of Belarus Alexander Lukashenko spoke in an interview with Russian journalist Naila Asker-Zade about the attitude towards the leaders of Russia and Ukraine. The TV presenter published a fragment of her program “Characters” on the Telegram channel.
Lukashenka was asked whether he considers Russian President Vladimir Putin his friend, and he answered in the affirmative. Commenting on the relationship with the President of Ukraine, the Belarusian head of state noted that “he has no grudge against Volodya Zelensky.” “But from my knee, I would not greet him,” the politician added.
In November, the official Minsk called Ukraine’s accession to the anti-Belarusian sanctions of the European Union “a mockery of common sense.” Lukashenko, on the other hand, repeatedly reacted sharply to all Zelensky’s advice on stabilizing the situation in Belarus. “Volodya Zelensky now needs to be wary of someone calling him simply Zelensky and not president. In my opinion, everything is heading towards that, ”said the President of Belarus back in November.
Lukashenko considers Ukraine, along with Poland and Lithuania, to be the main organizers and sponsors of protests in the country. Kiev, like other countries of the European Union, did not recognize the results of the vote and the victory of the current head of state.
Protests in Belarus have continued since the presidential elections on August 9, 2020. The disaffected are demanding new elections, the resignation of the entire leadership of the country, as well as an end to police violence and punishment for those who mocked the detainees during the first rallies. Lukashenko denies all the facts of violence and torture by law enforcement officers.
