Johnson accuses Trump of inciting the storming of the Capitol
British Prime Minister Boris Johnson considers it wrong to incite US President Donald Trump to storm the Capitol. His speech was broadcast by the Sky News TV channel.
“That he incited people to storm the Capitol and as the president constantly expressed doubts about the result of free and fair elections, I think it was completely wrong,” Johnson said.
The prime minister added that he condemns the manifestations of violence in Washington, and also called the actions of Trump’s supporters shameful.
The day before, Trump’s supporters broke through the cordon, after which they burst into the building of the US Congress in Washington. They interrupted a congressional meeting to approve the results of the presidential election, which was won by Democrat Joe Biden. Some of the congressmen were evacuated from the Capitol. Law enforcement officers used firearms and tear gas to quell the riot. The riots killed four people.
Trump later said that his disagreement with the election results would not be an obstacle to the January 20 transfer of power. The head of state also noted that he did not agree with the results of the presidential elections held in the United States.
