The plane crashed in Indonesia did not give emergency signals
Ground services did not receive emergency signals from the Indonesian Boeing 737-524 Sriwijaya Air that crashed today, January 9, said the deputy head of the national search and rescue agency Surio Aji. Recall that air traffic controllers lost contact with the aircraft at 10:40 Moscow time, when the plane began to sharply lose altitude over the Java Sea.
“None of the liners, including this aircraft, gave signals,” said Mr. Aji at a press conference after the crash (quoted by TASS). “In addition, the satellite systems of neighboring Australia did not record any signals either.” Mr Aji added that it is not yet known why the alarm was not sent.
On board the crashed liner were 62 people – 12 crew members and 50 passengers. Among them were ten children, three of whom were babies. According to preliminary data, there were no Russians on board.
