UK wants to finance the “reintegration” of Crimea with Ukraine
The British Embassy in Kiev announced the intention of the British government to “finance the reintegration program” of Crimea into Ukraine – “Open Future”, RIA Novosti reported with reference to the document. The program started on January 1 and will run until March 15, the report said.
The project is designed to facilitate the reintegration of the peninsula with Ukraine, as well as record “human rights violations” by Russia in the region. The program will have to be implemented by public organizations with the support of Ukrainian government agencies. In addition, it is planned to encourage the political and human rights activity of the Crimean Tatars, the agency writes.
Crimea became part of Russia following a referendum on March 18, 2014. Ukraine considers the peninsula to be its temporarily occupied territory. Most European countries, the United States and other countries support Kiev’s position.
