US President Donald Trump urged his supporters to refrain from violence during new demonstrations. The president’s statement was published on the White House website. The Capitol is currently hosting a House meeting on the impeachment of Mr Trump.
“In the light of reports of new demonstrations, I call for no violence, violation of the law or any kind of vandalism. I don’t support it, America doesn’t support it. I call on all Americans to help reduce tensions and provide peace of mind, ”Mr Trump said in a statement.
On January 6, during the approval of the results of the US presidential election, supporters of Donald Trump broke into the Capitol. The riots killed five people. After the rioters left the building, Congress approved Joe Biden’s victory in the presidential election. The FBI has opened 160 cases in connection with the attack on the Capitol.
