Policeman apologized to woman he kicked at rally in St. Petersburg
A police officer visited Margarita Yudina in the hospital, whom he kicked at a protest in St. Petersburg. He gave her flowers and apologized. The video was published by several Telegram channels, as well as REN TV, the name of the policeman is not given.
The policeman explained his actions by the fact that he did not see what was happening because of the fogged visor. However, the video posted by Fontanka shows that the visor was lifted from him. “I would like to offer my deepest and most sincere apologies. Excuse me, five minutes before that I was flooded with gas, my visor was fogging up, I did not see what was happening. I swear to you, this situation is shocking for me. When I found out what happened, it was a personal tragedy for me, ”the policeman said on the video.
Ms Yudina accepted the apology and asked the policeman not to worry. After being injured on January 23, she ended up in intensive care. Now she was discharged from the hospital, the press service of the St. Petersburg health committee TASS reported.
Earlier, the head of the department for the protection of public order of the Main Directorate of the Ministry of Internal Affairs, Sergei Muzyka, apologized to the woman. He also visited Ms Yudina at the hospital and promised to thoroughly investigate the situation. Rosgvardia is conducting a pre-investigation check against an employee who, in another video, admired the work of a police officer who hit a woman.
On Saturday, January 23, rallies were held all over Russia in support of opposition leader Alexei Navalny. According to OVD-Info, more than 3.5 thousand people were detained at the protest actions – the organization calls this an “absolute record.”
