US Secretary of State George Schultz dies at death
George Schultz, who was the 60th US Secretary of State, has passed away at the age of 100. This is reported by the Hoover Institution, where Schultz had the status of an honored member.
“One of the most influential politicians of all time, serving three US presidents, George P. Schultz, died on February 6 at the age of 100,” the statement said.
As noted at the institute, Schultz was a key figure, along with US President Ronald Reagan, who changed the course of history and “ended the Cold War.”
Schultz turned 100 last December. The first and only president of the USSR, Mikhail Gorbachev, congratulated him on his birthday and noted the contribution of the former head of the State Department to ending the Cold War. “The years of our joint work with you have become a turning point in ending the Cold War and the nuclear arms race, in building trust in relations between our countries. Today, the scale of what was done then looks especially impressive. I think we can be proud of this, ”Gorbachev said.
