As one of the organizers of the march, the head of the Krasnoselsky municipal district, Ilya Yashin, said, the event may take place on October 9, on the birthday of Mr. Nemtsov. Usually the march is held on February 27, the day of the murder of the politician, but this year the organizers refused to march on that day.

Boris Nemtsov was shot dead on February 27, 2015. The perpetrators of the murder – Zaur Dadaev, brothers Anzor and Shadid Gubashev, Temirlan Eskerkhanov and Khamzat Bakhaev – were sentenced to terms from 11 to 20 years in a strict regime colony. The first march in memory of the politician took place on March 1, 2015, and was attended by over 50 thousand people.
