Possible dates for Pashinyan’s resignation announced
The Armenian newspaper Past, citing sources, named the possible timing of the resignation of Prime Minister Nikol Pashinyan. This was reported on March 16 by “Sputnik Armenia”.
Pashinyan decided to resign by March 23. According to some reports, this will happen on March 16 or 17, if nothing extraordinary happens. In this case, early elections will be held in Armenia in May.
In the past two days, Pashinyan and representatives of the Civil Contract party have met with governors and heads of metropolitan municipalities to understand the rating of the authorities and the prime minister in the localities, sources said.
Mass rallies demanding Pashinyan’s resignation have been held in Armenia since mid-November. They began because the prime minister, together with the leaders of Russia and Azerbaijan, signed an agreement to end the war in Nagorno-Karabakh. Under the terms of the document, the Armenians ceded part of the territories to Baku.
Pashinyan himself claims that he is clean before the people. At the end of February, the General Staff of Armenia demanded his resignation.
