Lukashenko named the alleged place of the beginning of the civil war in Belarus
President of Belarus Alexander Lukashenko named the supposed place of the beginning of the civil war. BelTA informs about it.
The head of state spoke about the so-called people’s memorials organized in memory of the deceased protesters. He said that such places of memory are created with the aim of “psychological impact on the population” to maintain protest activity in the interests of foreign countries. In such places, conflicts between citizens inevitably take place, Lukashenka noted.
“The main goal is that these points of confrontation tomorrow, when radicalization continues and still arrives from abroad, and there are some [radicals] among us, take up arms in order to turn it into a place where a civil war began,” the president said.
He also noted that “Minsk cannot be turned into a cemetery,” and ordered to liquidate such memorials throughout the country, but “without any barbarism,” for example, transferring icons and icon lamps to real cemeteries.
On November 15, a protest action was held in Minsk near the people’s memorial to the first Alyaksandr Taraikouski who died during the protests, which ended in detentions.
On November 12, a resident of Minsk, Roman Bondarenko, died in a hospital, where he was taken with numerous injuries from the central police department of the capital. According to local residents, the man was beaten the night before by unknown people in civilian clothes, who were removing the red and white ribbons that adorned the territory. Bondarenko came out to talk to them, but they pushed him away and hit his head, after which he was “professionally detained” and taken away. Lukashenka instructed the General Prosecutor’s Office to investigate the death of Bondarenko.
