Ukrainian woman tried to vote with USSR passport in Zelensky’s hometown
A resident of Ukraine tried to vote with a passport issued in the USSR in the second round of elections for the mayor of Krivoy Rog, the hometown of President Vladimir Zelensky. On Sunday, December 6, RIA Novosti reported about it with reference to the civil network “Opora”.
According to public figures, the elderly woman said that she had voted using the passport of the Soviet Union in all previous elections. However, the members of the precinct election commission did not give her a ballot paper. In turn, the policeman explained to the woman the reasons for the refusal.
The second round of mayoral elections in Kryvyi Rih was supposed to take place on November 22. But on November 17, the current mayor of the city, Yuri Vilkul, announced his decision to refuse to participate in it due to his health condition. As a result, two candidates made it to the second round. They began to introduce Konstantin Pavlov to the Opposition Platform – For Life and Dmitry Shevchik, the pro-presidential Servant of the People party.
