The Federation Council responded to the call of Ukraine “to provide access” to Crimea
Sergei Tsekov, member of the Federation Council Committee on International Affairs from Crimea, responded to the call of Ukrainian Foreign Minister Dmitry Kuleba “to provide full access” to the republic. He voiced his assessment in a conversation with RT.
“I don’t even like the beginning of his [statement], despite the fact that this is a stamp about the occupying power,” Tsekov said. According to him, Russia is not an occupying country, but a country that is restoring and protecting Crimea.
The senator added that Kuleba is among the politicians for whom lying towards Russia is the norm. Tsekov pointed out that there are no prohibitions or obstacles to visiting Crimea, and the head of the Ukrainian Foreign Ministry understands this.
On March 12, Kuleba, speaking at an informal meeting of the UN Security Council, called on Russia to “open access” to the territory of Crimea. He did not explain which organizations or departments needed it, but indicated that such a need was dictated by international law. Deputy Ruslan Balbek responded by saying that everyone visits Crimea in accordance with Russian rules, and this will not happen on Kiev’s terms.
The deputy from the Crimean region, Mikhail Sheremet, recommended that Kuleba contact the Russian Foreign Ministry and coordinate his visit. He added that many well-known politicians and deputies from various countries have repeatedly visited the republic without problems.
